Below this is Scooby a staffie cross lab, who spent a few years at the shelter on and off, having a couple of homes in between. Thanks to Clark, a dedicated volunteer who worked tirelessly with her for a couple of years to help overcome her issues, she is now happy in her new home living with him and his two other dogs.
We began to think that Scooby would be living at the shelter for ever! but thankfully not. A happy ending for one of our rescue dogs.

SCOOBY

Below is Gemma is a border collie who came to the shelter in spring 2006. Shortly after arriving at the shelter, she had a small fit whilst outside. Blood tests were carried out but no cause was found. She is an older resident who was constantly overlooked for rehoming, due to her age. She is now 9yrs old. Sadly many of our older dogs take some time to rehome for the same reason.
Gemma was rehomed in 2007 to a lady who thankfully had the time and patience for her. She is a dog who is slow to trust people but with her new owners input, Gemma is now happy in her new home and meeting lots of new people. Sadly Gemma has had a couple more fits since going to her new home, but these do not seem to dampen her spirits. She has another dog and a couple of cats for company and whilst she has a bit of arthritis in her legs, she can still walk for quite a way.
We wish Gemma well in her new home.

GEMMA

My name is Paddy and I had been at the shelter for over two years. When I first came to the shelter, I didn't like other dogs and I hadn't really met any new people so I didn't know how to react when I saw strangers and dogs.
With the help of some of the dedicated staff at Happy Landings and mainly Karen, I had lots of training and socialising over the last two years and guess what, I have just gone to a new home for christmas.

PADDY

the gorgeous cat below is called Luna she was dumped outside our gate one horrible night in a cardboard box, unfortunatly before any of us colud find her she had gotten out we spent a week trying to find her, we knew she had gone under our flat packed small animal unit as we could hear her, but she was too scared to come out. We almost gave up hope , especially when she went quiet and the weather turned really nasty, but one evening she started to make a noise and a complete panic and determination rippled through the staff and we got her to come out. As you can see she has turned into a lovely cat. And the name Luna.......well it was a full moon when we found her!
