blackie

Blackie

An 8 ½ year old beautiful, sleek black cat, Blackie has been with us since April 2008 and would really like to get out of cattery and into a home. He has had a difficult life, being roughly handled and spending hours locked away in a room on his own.

Because of his past he can be slow to trust new people and needs the time and space to come around at his own pace. Although he does now enjoy some attention he finds too much of it overwhelming and needs further work slowly building his confidence with people.

He is very intelligent and learns quickly. Blackie would prefer a quiet home with no children, and would need to be the only cat but could live with a cat-friendly dog. A cat friendly garden is essential for him.

brimstone

Brimstone

Guessed to be about 6 years, beautiful Brimstone started life on a farm where he, and several others, had to fend for themselves. If they hunted successfully then he got to eat, if not then he starved. He was not doing too well when he was brought into us, even with the assistance of a kind local lady who had been feeding him to try to help him.

Now neutered, freed from parasites and on regular meals, Brimstone is beginning to blossom. He has adjusted to his massive change in lifestyle extremely well and is proving to be a quiet and gentle soul. It doesn`t take much now to get a good, rolling purr out of him. Brimstone would be happy in a quiet home where he does not feel overwhelmed. He is happy in the company of other gentle cats but would probably prefer not to live with dogs or young children.

Mischief

Mischief

Mischief is the daughter of Mayhem (see below).

At 10 and 7 years this mother and daughter pair have always been together. That said, they do have a bit of a love-hate relationship and would not mind being split up to go to different homes.

They have no experience of young children but would be happy with children of 8 years +. Both girls are affectionate and would love a fireside armchair to settle on in the evenings.

Both are very active and inquisitive and love to explore. Mischief will follow you around the house to see what you are doing and loves to be around people.

mayhem

Mayhem

Mayhem is mother of Mischief (see above) and has a completely black nose.

Mollie

Mollie:

Guessed to be 13 years +, Mollie simply turned up on someone's doorstep one day, cold and hungry and asked for help.

She was lucky in her choice of human and the kind lady took Mollie in, fed her and bedded her down in the summerhouse. As the resident cats and Mollie did not get on, out in the summerhouse Mollie had to stay – lovely in the milder weather but increasingly difficult as winter came. The ongoing freezing temperatures made Mollie's case quite desperate and so she came to us.

A lovely old girl, Mollie really would prefer to be in a home. She is clearly used to being an only cat and is finding it difficult to adjust to having other, younger, feline models around her. On a 1:1 she is sweet, gentle and loving. She has plenty of love to give to someone who wants to love her. She would be happiest in a non-hectic household with a garden she can explore.

Jasper

Jasper:

Now a 10 year old puss, Jasper was originally a rescue with us as a youngster. He has thrived in a family home, but a recent house move upset Jasper dreadfully and he has found it impossible to settle in their new accommodation so has come back to us.

Jasper is very affectionate, loves people and is a real lap cat in the evenings. He is fit and active and does enjoy his outside space but is not a wanderer.

He is used to living with a dog and would be quite happy in a home with a cat-friendly dog.

Francesca

Francesca:

Roughly 2 years old, Francesca was left behind to fend for herself when her owners moved house. Concerned neighbours brought her in to us.

Francesca is quite confident and loves human attention...she can get over exited and give little love nips when attention is prolonged! She has learnt to be independent but, given time, is a real softy.

Her thick coat will require regular grooming.

Luke

Luke:

Luke is a very young 11 year old boy. Originally a badly treated stray, it was a very nervous Luke who adopted an older lady as his human carer some years ago. She did a wonderful job of building his confidence and teaching him to be a happy, loving cat.

Sadly his chosen human has now died and Luke needs a new human to care for him. Luke is a fit and active boy who will catch the odd mouse at night for you and snuggle up on the sofa with you in the evenings. He is used to visiting children but has not lived with any. He is very scared of dogs.

Because he is a bright boy he has never forgotten his past. He needs a little time to get to know new people and to feel confident that their hands are friendly hands for stroking rather than for hitting.

Spek

Spek:

Black and white male cat, around 4 yrs old, brought in as a stray, Spek had been having to compete for food.

A little shy to start, Spek is really a sweet and friendly boy but does need a little time to feel fully confident with you. He is easily won around with a bowl of biscuits and a few cuddles!

Spek is a bit of a lost soul would love a home with a caring owner who can make him feel loved and so enable him to flourish.

Huzat

Huzat

Guessed to be 5 – 6 years old, Huzat (pronounced 'Hoozat') turned up in a barn rather unexpectedly during some particularly cold weather. Extremely friendly from the outset it was obvious that he had been someone's pet, but we have been unable to locate an owner for him.

When he first came to us Huzat was suffering from a dreadful flea infestation which had affected his delicate skin quite badly and has been undergoing treatment ever since.

The skin lesions have now healed and Huzat is a far happier and more comfortable boy as a result. We think he was either born with only one eye or that he lost it some time ago as he is fully adjusted and has no problems jumping, climbing etc.

Huzat loves as much attention as you can lavish on him and really loves his cuddles. He is friendly and easy going, loves people, is not aggressive with the other cats and is not remotely bothered about his lack of eye.
