Kid

Kid:

This beautiful big 15 year old British Alpine goat is our top billy. He came to us .......in very poor condition and has been with us ever since.

He takes the job of keeping the herd in order very seriously and won’t take any nonsense from any of them!

Although he is a powerful boy he is also a sensitive soul underneath it all. He is not suitable for homing with children.

Newman

Newman:

At 10 years Newman is currently second in command. He has taken a while to work out how to be a goat as he had lived on his own prior to joining us.

He has a naughty sense of humour and likes to play head butting games and to nibble your coat when you're not looking. He will integrate with other goats but is not suitable for a home with children.

Bramble

Bramble, Gucci, and Billy:

The naughties! Now 2 years old but hand reared as kids these are 3 of 6 that were brought in to us when they got too big for the kitchen and kept escaping from the stable.

Having worked out that escaping is fun it is a theme that they have maintained ever since!

Friendly and sociable, they love humans, come to call easily and will begin to pine if they don't get enough human contact time - they still believe that they should be able to live in the kitchen today!

They cannot easily be contained and will need 8 foot fencing to keep them safe.

They are lovely and well worth the fencing!

angora goats

Angora Goaties:

Milly, Candy and Flossy, are mum and daughters. Approximately 12 years old, they came into us when their owner was no longer able to care for them.

They have been used to lead walking along the hedgerows in their younger days and still like their daily biscuit each and a little natter. They are very much a group and would like to stay together.

They are gentle, easy going ladies who do play butting games amongst themselves but not with humans. They would fit into any smallholding and are happy with normal stock fencing.

Boris
Primrose
BORIS AND PRIMROSE

At 10 years these two are definitely up for a retirement home. They have always been together and would hate to be split up – Boris can get quite protective of Primrose if he feels that we may be doing anything untoward without his permission!

Their likes are sleeping in the stable with lots of straw bedding for them to nest in, grazing in the field (not walking too far mind!), sleeping, apples, sleeping, a back rub, sleeping, pinching eggs (Boris especially!)...oh yes, and did we mention sleeping?!

They dislike rain, the cold, being made to wake up. Many people believe that Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pigs are small – and then they meet our two! Bless them, they are old, they are lame, they are permanently on a diet, they snore for England and they are not going to win any beauty contests – but you've got to love them! They are guaranteed to enrich anyone's life.

Hens

Ex Battery Hens now available!

Ex-battery hens: We have just taken in another big batch of ex-battery hens. Although still a bit lean and not yet fully feathered they are coming on in leaps and bounds.

They have all been wormed and de-loused and are now ready to go to new homes. They would like free-range homes with good fox proof housing for night time sleeping.

We find that the ex-battery hens quickly become very tame and nosy – they are the ones that will follow you around the garden to see what you are doing all the time!

Each and every one of them has their own individual personality and they are quickly displaying normal behaviours, scratching at the ground, nesting, roosting and dust bathing.

Their eggs are yummy too.
